Remote Registered Nurse – Utilization Review
Pay Rate: $45/hour on W2

Schedule:
Day Shift | Monday–Friday
Hours:
5x8s | 40 hours per week
Shift Time: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Work Environment: 100% Remote
Key Responsibilities
• Perform utilization review for inpatient, observation, and extended hospital outpatient services
• Review clinical documentation to determine medical necessity and appropriate level of care
• Apply Inter Qual criteria consistently and accurately (hard requirement)
• Manage utilization review processes for a variety of adult and pediatric acute and chronic diagnoses
• Collaborate with physicians, care managers, and interdisciplinary teams
• Ensure compliance with Medicare regulations and payer-specific requirements
• Document determinations and actions clearly within Epic
Special Procedures / Unit Details
• Department is 100% remote
• Supports multiple service lines and levels of care, including inpatient, observation, and extended hospital outpatient
• High-volume, fast-paced utilization management environment
Required Qualifications (Hard Stops)
• Active Registered Nurse license (CA or compact, as applicable)
• Inter Qual experience required – hard stop
• Epic proficiency required – recent use within the last 6–12 months
• Minimum 3 years of acute care Care Manager or Utilization Review experience in a hospital setting
- Experience must be hospital-based (not health plan or medical group)
Additional Required Experience
• Experience working with HMOs, IPAs, and managed care payers
• Strong working knowledge of Medicare regulations and UM-related processes, including:
- CC44s
- ABNs
- HINNs
- MCSNs
• Excellent clinical judgment, critical thinking, and documentation skills
