Description
The OR Service Line Lead RN is responsible for assisting with clinical management and administrative coordination of the daily clinical operations of the OR, according to established policies and procedures. This role combines clinical (direct care) responsibilities with administrative tasks to ensure effective delivery of evidence-based clinical patient care. The RN ensures nursing practices are standardized and aligned with best practices and standards of care.
They serve as a role model for patient experience, promoting courteous, respectful, and personalized customer service. The RN supports organizational goals and optimizes the clinical, financial, and human resources of the OR. Additionally, the RN is responsible for daily communication, feedback, coaching, and problem-solving within the unit. Personal growth and staff development are also key components of this role.
The role emphasizes the use of the Quality-Caring Model (QCM), which is integrated throughout nursing care to promote excellent patient care, professional relationships, and self-care behaviors.
Core Competencies include:
- Adherence to infection prevention guidelines
- Compliance with policies, procedures, and standards of practice
- Assessment of patient history, physiological, and psychosocial status
- Effective communication with patients, families, and medical staff
- Compliance with Joint Commission’s patient safety goals
- Participation in quality improvement activities and professional development
- Provision of age-specific, individualized care and patient education
- Utilization of resources efficiently and safely, including medication administration and safe patient handling
Department-Specific Competencies:
- Ensuring clinical quality and integrating the QCM in services
- Supporting the unit's budget and productivity standards
- Promoting professional growth and collaborating across departments
- Acting as a clinical resource and coordinator within perioperative services
- Participating in performance evaluations, quality improvement, and educational activities
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of OR Circulator experience
Licenses & Certifications:
- Registered Nurse License
- BCLS or ACLS Certification
- CNOR required
Compensation Range: $58.58 - $88.09 per hour
