Job SummaryThis position is responsible for overseeing the packaging process. That includes tasks like operating the vertical bagging and horizontal wrapping machines, packing products into cases, operating forming cartons, palletizing and labeling accuracy. The Packing Lead is responsible for ensuring that employees are properly trained to perform packaging tasks. They are responsible for maintaining all safety and quality processes, adjusting the machines to optimum settings, obtaining minimal downtime, fewest rejects with efficient output and product switchovers.
They are also responsible for keeping track of packaged inventories and recording daily packaging amounts reporting any issues to Supervisors and Managers.
- Troubleshoot equipment to run quality product at specified rate with minimal downtime and scrap.
- Perform set-ups, including preparation for the next jobs.
- Lead and motivate a fast-paced packaging team.
- The packaging team leader will give directions to packaging staff.
- Assists in directing and training employees assigned to a specific area
- Making sure that the packing area is clean and always organized.
- Packs products in an accurate and timely manner.
- Follows company standardized pack specifications along with any customer specified deviations as communicated through the quality control department and paperwork.
- Obtains and distributes products to appropriate pack lines and reduces processing costs.
- Maintain a safe environment for staff by implementing safety protocols and by ensuring all machinery is safe for employees to use.
- The packaging team leader will ensure QC processes are correctly implemented and that quality is maintained throughout the packaging process.
- Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle and control and adjust machine settings (e.g., speed).
- Complete all necessary documentation and reports.
- Operates machinery, equipment, tools in a safe and proficient manner according to standards, guidelines, and instructions and assigned machinery speeds.
- Must be able to read and understand product specifications established by Shine Foods and recognize deviations from those specifications.
- Performs clean-up activities as assigned.
- May be assigned other duties by plant management as required.
- All employees are required to immediately report and assist in the elimination or control of any food safety issues they observe to their supervisor.
- Monitors and enforces cGMPs.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and Pre-requisite programs.
- Ability to understand written and oral direction in English and/or Spanish.
- Occasionally carry and/or lift 50 Lbs.
- Must have the ability to routinely and frequently stand, stoop, bend, climb, fill raw material into machine.
- Must be able to work in a loud environment.
- Ability to walk through production areas.
- Exposure to temperature change.
- Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
- Wear proper footwear.
$18.75 - $19.50 per hour
Supervisor: Shift Supervisor
Schedule- 2nd shift (4:00 p.m.
- 12:30 a.m.) - Occasionally be available to work on weekends
