Job Description
The Manager, Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering leads WPS's cloud, on-prem, and hybrid infrastructure environment with responsibility for reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence. This role manages the Dev Ops Engineer and Systems Engineer, provides hands‑on technical leadership in AWS, automation, CI/CD, monitoring, and disaster recovery, and ensures the performance and modernization of WPS's technology platforms.
Essential Responsibilities Infrastructure Leadership- Lead, mentor, and develop the Infrastructure and Dev Ops teams.
- Oversee AWS environments, cloud architecture, and resource optimization.
- Manage hybrid infrastructure, including on‑prem servers, M365, identity services, networking, and storage.
- Own the operational reliability of WPS systems, including uptime, incident response for infrastructure issues, patching execution, and system performance.
- Own the technical execution of disaster recovery readiness, including backups, runbooks, recovery procedures, and high‑availability planning, in alignment with DR governance led by the Information Security & Compliance team.
- Establish and maintain monitoring, alerting, and performance management standards.
- Drive cloud and infrastructure cost optimization through resource right‑sizing, usage analysis, and automation.
- Provide technical leadership to the Dev Ops engineer and guide pipeline stability, automation, and deployment efficiency.
- Oversee CI/CD tooling, Infrastructure‑as‑Code practices, and cloud deployment automation.
- Improve operational efficiency through automated workflows, logging, observability, and proactive system health management.
- Implement secure baseline configurations and perform security‑driven configuration changes in collaboration with the Security & Compliance team, including support for remediation efforts.
- Support vulnerability remediation, system hardening, patching strategy, and IAM improvements.
- Ensure infrastructure meets security requirements for SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, and customer contractual obligations.
- Implement network and firewall configuration changes based on security requirements defined by the Information Security & Compliance team.
- Oversee vendor relationships, including cloud providers, hardware/software vendors, licensing, and managed service providers to ensure cost‑effective and reliable operations.
- Conduct capacity planning and ensure systems scale with business needs.
- Develop and document processes, runbooks, and operational standards.
- Provide leadership during infrastructure incidents, including after‑hours escalation support as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure engineering with strong AWS proficiency.
- 2+ years experience in team leadership or people management.
- Hands‑on experience with Dev Ops tooling, CI/CD systems, Infrastructure‑as‑Code, and automation frameworks.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, firewalls, VPCs, VPNs, DNS, and load balancing.
- Experience maintaining secure, compliant systems aligned with SOC 2, HIPAA, or similar frameworks.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with ability to work across teams.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
