Overview

Senior Human Resources Manager located in Torrance, CA. This position has responsibility for all human resources function within the manufacturing plants at the Torrance location and serves on the Torrance Leadership Teams with other functional leads and the Director of Operations. The incumbent will drive partnerships across Torrance to deliver value-added initiatives to support business goals and will act as a consultant to the leadership team to lead talent management, talent acquisition, succession planning, learning & development, change management, workforce planning, and engagement initiatives.

The role includes managing HR-related issues and providing support to business leaders and the plant, serving as a change agent.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy HR initiatives, ensuring robust alignment with business priorities and corporate guidance.
  • Oversee HR processes, including talent reviews, compensation, succession planning, talent acquisition, and other HR processes, ensuring delivery of information before due dates.
  • Oversee and ensure key HR performance indicators are reviewed, communicated, and achieved by the Torrance team.
  • Ensure legal compliance for all HR-related areas at the site. Maintain knowledge of federal and state legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Lead talent management, succession planning, learning & development, change management, workforce planning, engagement initiatives and identify/address competency, knowledge, and talent gaps for the location.
  • Develop and execute robust action plans to improve the employee experience and engagement.
  • Manage compensation practices for the location as necessary.
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization with management and employees to be an effective coach and problem solver of people issues.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Oversee thorough, objective investigations. Partner with legal as needed/required.
  • Oversee and guide the location HR, ensuring strong competencies in leadership and people management.
  • Guide and support the location to develop and align community strategy with key business priorities to drive Howmet brand and employee engagement.

  • In-depth knowledge of legal requirements and working knowledge of California state and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency with human resources information systems and related software; ability to synthesize information from multiple sources to address needs.
  • Working knowledge of all HR functional areas including legal, employee relations, recruiting, EEO/AA, compensation and benefits, learning and development.
  • Business literacy about financial and non-financial metrics and indicators.
  • Excellent consulting, coaching and change management skills; strong negotiation and conflict management abilities.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of HR experience, showing career progression within the function.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree is a plus.
  • Manufacturing experience.
