The Senior Tax Accountant supports all aspects of Pelican's tax function, including the preparation and review of tax returns, tax provisions, indirect tax filings, and tax research. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations while contributing to continuous improvement in reporting accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

• Prepare and review tax filings:
  Prepare and review work papers for federal, state, and local corporate income tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
• Support tax provisions:
  Assist in the preparation and review of interim and year‑end tax provision work papers to support financial statement reporting.
• Manage indirect tax filings:
  Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of monthly sales and use tax returns using Avalara, ensuring compliance across jurisdictions.
• Handle tax payments and extensions:
  Prepare and review federal and state estimated income tax payments, extensions, and related documentation.
• Respond to tax authorities:
  Assist in drafting responses to inquiries and audits from federal, state, and local taxing authorities.
• Collaborate across departments:
  Partner with finance, accounting, and other departments to collect and validate data, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all tax‑related reporting.
• Maintain tax records:
  Perform monthly reconciliations of tax accounts and prepare journal entries as needed.
• Conduct research:
  Analyze tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify potential process or cost improvement opportunities.

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field.
• Minimum of 1‑2 years' experience in preparing and reviewing corporate tax returns and researching tax issues.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills and be detail oriented.
• Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills.
