We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead manufacturing engineering and CNC programming operations within a high-precision aerospace production environment. What You’ll Do:
Hands-On Technical Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing/process engineers and CNC programmers
- Act as a true player-coach — providing direct support on the production floor
- Establish engineering priorities and ensure alignment with production schedules
- Develop and maintain manufacturing standards, work instructions, routings, and process documentation
- Provide engineering support for precision-machined aerospace components
- Apply deep knowledge of thread standards, torque/tension relationships, preload, coatings, and heat treatment
- Interpret and implement aerospace customer specifications and industry standards
- Review and approve manufacturing drawings, routings, and specifications
- Support daily production troubleshooting and nonconformance resolution
- Oversee CNC programming for turning, milling, threading, and secondary operations
- Optimize tooling, setups, fixtures, and machining strategies for throughput and repeatability
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI), First Article Inspection (FAI), and process validation
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, FAA regulations, and aerospace customer requirements
- Support audits and regulatory inspections
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives
- Approve engineering changes related to manufacturing processes
- Drive scrap reduction, cycle time improvements, and cost control initiatives
- Standardize machining, inspection, heat treatment, and finishing processes
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma efforts
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of hands-on aerospace manufacturing engineering experience
- 2+ years of engineering leadership experience
- Strong CNC machining knowledge
- Experience in AS9100-certified environments
- Deep understanding of aerospace materials, threads, GD&T, and inspection standards
- Experience with FAA-regulated products
- OEM or Tier 1 aerospace customer exposure
- Lean or Six Sigma background
- Combination office and manufacturing floor environment
- Occasional travel to customer or supplier sites
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (ITAR environment)
