Overview
Job Title: Senior Purchasing Manager
As a Senior Purchasing Manager, you will implement and maintain corporate purchasing systems and procedures to ensure optimal supplier terms, quality, and cost performance. You will be responsible for fostering partnerships with suppliers and ensuring compliance with Department of Defense requirements, specifically through implementing Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR) policies. You will work closely with other managers to determine supply needs and negotiate unique subcontracts and purchasing arrangements.
Responsibilities- Implement and maintain corporate purchasing systems and procedures.
- Foster partnerships with suppliers to enhance performance.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Defense requirements through CPSR policies.
- Collaborate with other managers to determine supply needs.
- Negotiate subcontracts and purchasing arrangements based on technical understanding.
- Maintain and furnish purchasing records, analyses, cost data, and reports.
- Manage material demand and supply flow with purchasing planners and coordinators.
- Expedite materials from suppliers through receiving and inspection.
- Administer packaging and shipping per customer requirements.
- Administer supplier improvement processes and performance measures.
- Ensure adequate resources for the purchasing/supply chain team.
- Accomplish continuous improvement initiatives focusing on cost savings.
- Implement training programs for purchasing policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with AS9100.
- Experience with Contractor Purchasing System Reviews.
- Strong contract negotiation skills for complex requests.
- Knowledge of DFAR, international shipping, purchasing, ERP, process improvement, and vendor management.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Materials Management, Business Operations/Administration, Finance, or related field.
- 10+ years of purchasing experience within the aerospace or electronics manufacturing industry.
- Supervisory experience is a plus.
- Certifications from industry associations such as CPM/CPPM are a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- US Citizenship is required.
This role is fully onsite in Torrance, working 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. The company consists of 120 people, with a purchasing team of four. You will likely not be supervising any team members. The environment provides the ability to innovate, develop, and transition prototype technologies into new products. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $66.00 - $90.00/hr.
