About the RoleMoog Industrial is seeking a Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager to be responsible for development of strategic sourcing plans including make vs buy inputs, supplier identification and selection, negotiating and closing high value long‑term agreements, supplier relationship management, supplier partnership and development as well as general contractual supplier support for all IG sites and Business Units.
Your scope will include new programs, existing programs and aftermarket programs throughout the entire lifecycle of proposal development, new product introduction, rate increase and mass production in order to meet quality, total cost, delivery and inventory goals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead strategic sourcing plans and drive the creation and execution of strategies across multiple commodity groups, aligning with business objectives and market dynamics.
- Support Make vs. Buy decisions by providing analysis and recommendations to inform IG’s Make vs. Buy strategies.
- Analyze global market trends continuously and evaluate global market conditions to identify risks, opportunities and emerging trends that impact sourcing strategies.
- Manage commodity strategy development and lead the formulation and execution of commodity‑specific strategic plans.
- Build strategic supplier partnerships by identifying, selecting and developing key supplier relationships.
- Optimize supply channels and develop supply chain solutions that reduce lead times and inventory levels while improving quality, delivery performance and total cost of ownership.
- Drive supplier relationship management (SRM) by leading supplier performance reviews and relationship management activities in collaboration with site‑level Supply Chain teams.
- Negotiate and manage contracts, overseeing contract and pricing negotiations to ensure effective claim management and long‑term value creation.
- Lead strategic sourcing teams and projects by providing leadership and direction to cross‑functional sourcing teams to ensure successful execution of strategic initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree level education preferred in the fields of Engineering, Supply Chain or Business.
- Desired qualifications include certification in Purchasing, Supply Chain or Program Management, additional education and a master’s degree in Business or Engineering.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience (usually post‑education) in manufacturing or engineering, preferably Automotive.
- Good negotiating skills, combined with knowledge of procurement and contractual law.
- Good communication and organizational skills, and ability to understand complex business requirements.
- Global business travel required to visit Moog internal sites and suppliers – sometimes with short notice.
- Requires strong analytical and creative problem‑solving abilities.
- Requires excellent working knowledge and understanding of contractual requirements, business systems and processes.
- Good understanding of supply chain networks and linkage and flow.
- Travel to other Moog locations and suppliers, when required (about 10‑20%).
