Bookkeeper

Description We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team on a contract basis in Torrance, California. This position offers an exciting opportunity to manage vital accounting processes and provide hands-on support to our AP/AR clerks. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to maintaining accurate financial records while supervising and guiding the current bookkeeping team.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee daily accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations to maintain up-to-date financial records.

- Provide mentorship and guidance to the AP/AR clerks, enhancing their bookkeeping knowledge and skills.

- Collaborate with external accounting firms to ensure compliance with financial regulations and best practices.

- Supervise data entry processes for AP/AR to ensure timely and precise transaction recording.

- Assist in redesigning the chart of accounts in collaboration with external accounting support.

- Manage hands-on accounting tasks, including problem-solving and process improvements.

- Act as a liaison between the internal team and external accounting consultants.

- Ensure proper documentation and organization of financial records for audits and reporting.

- Support the implementation of accounting tools and systems to streamline financial operations. Requirements - Proven experience in bookkeeping, with a strong understanding of AP and AR processes.

- Proficiency in bank and credit card reconciliations.

- Familiarity with accounting software, such as Quick Books, and the ability to adapt to new systems.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Strong communication skills for supervising and mentoring team members.

- Ability to work collaboratively with external accounting firms and internal staff.

- Flexibility to adapt to evolving accounting needs and processes.

- Previous experience in a supervisory or guidance role within accounting or bookkeeping is preferred.
