A fast-growing restaurant corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. This critical role will be instrumental in overseeing various accounting functions, including sales and use tax, state tax filing, and consolidation across multiple states. A seasoned professional to lead this strategic initiative is ideal, as they embark on an exciting new phase of implementing advanced ERP and POS systems.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions for multiple states.
- Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and specific state regulations.
- Manage complex sales and use tax compliance across multiple states, including filing returns, audits, and resolving disputes.
- Stay up-to-date on evolving sales and use tax regulations in each state.
- Prepare and file state tax returns, including income tax, franchise tax, and other applicable taxes for multiple states.
- Ensure accurate and timely compliance with state tax laws and regulations.
- Oversee the consolidation of financial statements for multiple entities across different states.
- Identify and resolve consolidation issues and discrepancies, considering state-specific accounting differences.
- Lead the implementation of new ERP and POS systems, including system configuration, data migration, and user training across multiple states.
- Collaborate with IT and operations teams to ensure a smooth transition.
- Develop and implement effective processes and controls to optimize system utilization and compliance with state-specific requirements.
- Mentor and develop junior team members.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience in a multi-state company, preferably in the retail or restaurant industry.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and tax principles, as well as state-specific regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and other financial software.
- Experience with ERP and POS systems, particularly in implementation projects (e.g., Restaurant
365, SAP, Net Suite, Toast, Square, Clover). - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
The base pay range above represents the low and high end of the base compensation range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual base compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including geographic location, actual experience, and job performance.
