Under direction of the Lead Rheumatology Specialist Nurse deliver specialist nursing care to a defined case load of patients, always acting as the patients advocate. Provide advice and support to junior staff and learners in all aspects of the delivery of high quality care. Provide support, advice and education to patients/ significant others in the management of their care.
Following induction and training, to work autonomously with patients via face-to-face clinics.
You will be required to assess, advice and counsel patients who require treatment with disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (including biological therapies).
Recognise and action management plans for abnormal blood results in relation to monitoring patients on disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs using the Trust IT systems
Answering patient queries to the Rheumatology telephone helpline.
Participate in education presentations for patients and staff.
Management of all aspects of rheumatology conditions.
Continue to develop through CPD and undertake all mandatory training.
Providing specialist nursing advice to colleagues and the wider MDT.

This friendly team work closely with the Rheumatology Consultants, and the wider MDT, to provide an effective and responsive Monday to Friday service, delivering nurse led clinics to patients with all types of rheumatology conditions.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential- oNMC Registered Nurse
- o5 years post NMC reg. nursing experience
- Independent/Supplementary Non-Medical Prescriber
- Proven ability to make sound clinical judgements and decisions in response to complex situations.
- IT experience and literacy.
- Specific knowledge of the clinical area / speciality.
- Autonomous working.
