We are seeking outstandingindividualsto join our Board as a Non-Executive Director and Associate Non-Executive Director’s. Non-Executive Directors bringan independent perspective,support and challenge to help shape the future of the Trust into the next stage in its evolution. We have an ambition to increase diversity at Board level andwould welcome applications from individuals from under-represented groups.

As aDirector, you will work alongside the Chair, other Non-Executive Directors and Executive Directors of the Foundation Trust. You will share responsibility with the other Board directors for the success of the organisation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Your role will be to use your skills and your personal experience to:

  • contribute to the development of the Trust’s strategy and business planning processes;
  • play your part in ensuring the Trust’s compliance with its regulatoryframework;
  • helpensurethatthe

    Boardsetschallenginggoalsandobjectivesforhealthservicesandformeetingtargetsfor treatment;
  • monitortheperformanceoftheexecutiveteamindeliveringthecorporateobjectives,includingkeytargetssetboth nationally and locally;
  • ensurethatthe

    Boardalwaysactsinthebestinterestsofpatientsandthewiderpublic,andthatfullaccountistakenof advice received from the Council of Governors;
  • ensure that management systems are in place to giveaccurateinformation to the Board including information about patientsafetyandexperience,financialandoperationalperformance,workforceissues,risk management,clinicalqualityand value formoney;
  • ensurethatthe

    Trustpromotesequalityofopportunityandhumanrightsinthetreatmentofitsstaffandpatients;
  • represent the Board at officialoccasions;
  • participate in the appointment of the Chief Executive and other executivedirectors.

Person specificationExperience
  • High personal credibility, evidenced through experience of operating at a senior level in an organisation with significant budgets and complexity
Experience
  • A record of high calibre leadership and delivery, in an executive or non-executive capacity
  • High-level organisational and governance skills, including for instance strategic planning, risk management, performance management, service commissioning, service delivery and development, quality management, patient/client representation
  • Political acumen – ability to grasp relevant issues underpinned by an understanding of how to develop partnerships and build relationships with other organisations
  • Evidence of creative thinking and contributing to innovation
