Overview

Care to join us in making a difference while working flexibly in our varied Podiatry service? An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 5 Podiatrists to join the team. We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals working at Band 5 to join our team. You will be required to provide assessment, treatment and interventions for our high risk caseload within Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, and will work with a range of clinics, hospital and health centres and homes across Torbay and South Devon.

As a Podiatrist you will be responsible for the management and treatment of a caseload of patients across a variety of locations within the Torbay and South Devon area, providing a comprehensive assessment of podiatric need, relevant health education, planned podiatric care packages and referral to other health care professionals as required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment, treatment and interventions for a high risk caseload within Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Work with a range of clinics, hospital and health centres and homes across Torbay and South Devon.
  • Manage and treat a caseload of patients across a variety of locations, delivering comprehensive podiatric assessments and care plans.
  • Provide relevant health education, planned podiatric care packages and referrals to other health care professionals as required.
  • Collaborate with other community healthcare workers and provider agencies within a variety of care settings including community clinics, domiciliary work, care homes and contribute to development of the podiatry team.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Band 5 Podiatrist with ability to travel around the Torbay and South Devon locality to undertake home visits.
  • Commitment to CPD, evidence-based practice and clinical rotation.
  • Ability to deliver high standards of treatment and professionalism and to develop a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Clinical responsibility for delivering high quality care to a caseload across the Torbay and South Devon area.
  • Willingness to work across multiple locations including community clinics, domiciliary work and care homes.
  • Maintain HCPC registration and hold a degree/diploma in Podiatry; local analgesia administration certificate.
  • Follow departmental policies, procedures and guidelines and make clinical decisions within professional boundaries.
  • Attend mandatory training as required by the Trust.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with professional standards and Trust policy.
About the team and environment
  • Working across 10 locations; the podiatry department includes Head of Service, Team Leads, Specialist podiatrists, podiatrists, assistant practitioners and clinical support staff, with 9 administrative staff.
  • We aim to innovatively deliver first class lower limb and foot health preventative care across South Devon and are a research-active department that encourages personal development.
  • We strive to achieve better outcomes for patients and actively promote development opportunities for staff.

Additional information
  • To ensure effective communication with patients, relatives and carers concerning assessment outcomes, treatment options and prognosis where there may be barriers to understanding due to learning difficulties, illness and high anxiety.
  • Delegate effectively and provide care plans for support staff such as clinical support workers, assistant practitioners and students to follow.
  • To maintain registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and hold a degree/diploma in Podiatry and any relevant analgesia administration certificates.
  • To follow departmental Policies, Procedures and Guidelines and have the discretion to make own clinical diagnosis and decisions within professional boundaries.
  • To attend all mandatory training sessions as required by the Trust.
