**** Job Summary
** The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator is responsible to receive, store, ship and distribute mail, supplies, equipment, and merchandise for the Supplies and Purchasing department as well as the THQ building, while assisting in the maintenance of a clean, safe, and hazard-free workplace. This position involves a combination of mail room / shipping / warehousing and driving. Work is to be undertaken in a safe, careful, and courteous manner and is required to adhere to all laws and safe driving practices while in control and possession of Salvation Army vehicles and property.
** Key Accountabilities
*** Manage all incoming and outgoing mail operations, including daily pickup from Canada Post, sorting, processing, courier coordination, and accurate shipment preparation using shipping software.
* Coordinate shipping and receiving activities, verifying packing lists, bills of lading, and documentation to ensure accuracy of goods, quantities, and condition, and initiating claims when required.
* Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards by maintaining MSD sheets, adhering to transportation guidelines, and meeting CVOR and Ministry of Transportation requirements.
* Operate material handling equipment, including counterbalance forklifts, and safely load, unload, strap, brace, and secure shipments to prevent transit damage.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation, including logs, manifests, audit reports, truck logs, and daily production sheets.
* Prepare customer and production orders by picking, packing, labeling, auditing, and processing returns in accordance with specifications and shipping methods.
* Transport and organize materials within the facility using hand trucks, dollies, and other devices to support efficient workflow and storage management.
* Oversee vehicle safety, maintenance, inspections, and circle checks, ensuring operational readiness and timely servicing.
* Deliver courteous and professional customer service while responding to non-routine requests and adapting processes to meet special requirements.
* Support operational excellence by maintaining a safe and organized workspace, assisting with special events and annual inventory counts, providing team coverage, and contributing to special projects as assigned.
** Education and Experience Qualifications
*** High School Diploma; alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
* Valid “G” Class Driver’s License with clean driving abstract and access to a reliable, insured vehicle; current Forklift Operator certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire); W.H.M.I.S. certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire);
Dock Safety certification is an asset.
* Minimum 2 years of related work experience, including warehouse processing, goods distribution, and stockroom pick/pack/receiving operations.
* Experience using UPS World Ship, Canada Post shipping software (or equivalent), and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Windows 11 with accurate keyboarding skills.
