iOS and Android engineers leverage the full capabilities of mobile devices and their SDKs. For example, our apps take advantage of augmented reality, computer vision‑assisted product search using the device’s camera, and machine learning to create personalized experiences and improve the speed of the app.

The Native App Excellence team’s help execute the vision of moving the Wayfair native apps toward our preferred platform for our customers by focusing on the critical levers of seamless, native‑first journey, driving habit and frequency, and developing experience that give users a reason to download our app. This team’s success will entail modernizing our foundational capabilities to deliver a best in class app experience, building net new app only experiences, and influencing the broader org on an app‑first mindset.

The ideal candidate has experience in native iOS development, and a proven track record of managing stakeholders and external partners. Experience or general interest in modern native application development techniques is a must, Artificial Intelligence and Graph

QL is a big plus! This person will leverage their breadth of knowledge in these areas to lead and grow a mission driven engineering team that delivers features for Wayfair shoppers to make their shopping experience frictionless and delightful.

• Lead a team of iOS developers working on features and tech that powers our native app’s shopping experience.
• Promote, coach, and drive a high quality culture into the team and organization.
• Proactively manage critical project issues, risks and challenges, utilizing project management tools and business expertise to deliver projects.
• Lead and drive engineering initiatives from inception to development, and deployment. Initiatives may cut across multiple aspects of the applications.
• Work closely with product management and business stakeholders to understand and translate business objectives into technical solutions.
• Represent the engineering team in cross‑functional projects and to the company at large.
• Utilize strong leadership skills to build the best high‑performing team.
• Coach, mentor, and keep 1:1 with team members as well as gather feedback and implement necessary improvements.
• Ensure high quality and performance standards for the Wayfair mobile platform.
• Oversee the definition of best practices and coding standards across the entire team; review code and provide guidance for other code reviewers participating in our release approval process.
• Use data and metrics to collaboratively drive impactful changes across the application; work closely with product and engineering management to anticipate areas for improvement and investment, and highlight these for inclusion in the team's project roadmap.

• At least 3+ years of engineering leadership or management experience.
• At least 7+ years of software development experience with ideally 3+ years of native app development, focused on iOS.
• Experience in Swift in building mobile applications with a desire to continuously learn as you strive to develop and improve your team.
• Knowledge of mobile software design patterns and experience working with a variety of architectures.
• Experience recruiting, managing, fostering and retaining talent on a technical team.
• Agile experience and extensive experience working on an agile development team.
