Our challenge

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Core Java Developer with extensive experience in multithreading, collections, data structures, and banking domain expertise. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high‑performance banking applications and services. The candidate will play a key role in architecting robust backend systems, ensuring optimal performance and security.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Toronto, ON is CAD $110k – CAD $120k/year & benefits (see below).

The

Role Responsibilities:
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain core Java‑based banking applications.
  • Design and implement multithreaded applications to ensure high concurrency and performance.
  • Utilize Java Collections Framework and data structures to optimize data handling.
  • Analyze and improve application efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including business analysts, QA, and UI/UX designers.
  • Conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior developers.
  • Follow best coding practices, coding standards, and Agile methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Java applications.
  • Engage in performance tuning and optimization for banking systems.
  • Understand and adhere to banking security standards and compliance requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 12+ years of hands‑on experience in Core Java development.
  • Strong expertise in multithreading, concurrency, and synchronization.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Java Collections Framework and data structures.
  • Experience working with banking or financial services applications.
  • Familiarity with REST/SOAP APIs, Microservices architecture.
  • Good understanding of SQL and relational databases.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations, security standards, and best practices.
  • Proficient in version control tools (Git, SVN).
  • Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred, but not required:
  • Experience with frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate.
  • Exposure to Dev Ops tools and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of messaging systems like Kafka, Rabbit

  • Prior experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
