Progress Career Planning Institute (PCPI) is a not‑for‑profit organization that provides skill training, employment and settlement services to a diverse population, helping them reach their full potential. PCPI also founded and presents the IEP Conference, a forum for internationally educated professionals.

PCPI is seeking a dynamic and reliable Employment Consultant – Retention Specialist who builds business relationships, assesses clients’ needs, and uses a solution‑focused approach to assist clients in finding and maintaining employment.

The Employment Consultant – Retention Specialist will work with an assigned caseload of clients and provide a range of supports to clients and their employers, ensuring clients maintain their employment. The role engages a variety of client groups facing multiple barriers to employment, building positive relationships, encouraging, motivating, and supporting clients toward sustainable employment and increased independence.

Core Responsibilities
  • Positively contribute to monthly individual and team KPIs while managing a challenging workload prioritization and effective time management
  • Develop and maintain relationships with collaborators to generate and manage client referrals
  • Conduct assessments to document the client’s employment‑related strengths, needs, abilities, skills, and other factors
  • Support the development of an individualized Employment Action Plan to guide the client’s journey to long‑term employment
  • Maintain regular face‑to‑face contact, providing pre‑employment assistance through vocational advice, job search training, skill development, work preparation and other activities outlined in the Action Plan
  • Support clients with awareness and navigation, including accessing community resources to improve job readiness, and facilitate referrals as appropriate
  • Complete administrative tasks in a timely manner, including client documentation, case notes, expenditures, and outcomes
  • Use WCG‑IES Case Management System to keep documentation accurate, up to date, and submitted within set time frames
  • Review the local job market to identify and pursue suitable opportunities, including weekly cold calling and targeted marketing to potential employers
  • Conduct initial employer on‑site visits to ensure optimal working conditions and negotiate employment opportunities for clients
  • Provide individualized job retention support, maintaining regular contact, identifying needs, and guiding clients to successfully maintain employment for 12 months
  • Attend presentations at local job fairs and other employer‑related networking opportunities
  • Monitor client employment monthly at a minimum; record and follow up on check‑points
  • Assist the client and/or employer in resolving issues that may affect employment
  • Identify and arrange accommodations and supports necessary for continued employment
  • Coordinate and facilitate required training that supports job retention, including on‑the‑job training
Other Responsibilities
  • Deliver services in a welcoming, safe, and professional manner, protecting client privacy
  • Participate in hosting community and employer networking events
  • Display a high level of personal integrity and professionalism when representing PCPI
  • Deliver services in accordance with contractual commitments, IES guidelines, performance requirements, and PCPI policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as required, including going beyond the job description when necessary
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
  • Post‑secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field (e.g., career or employment development, vocational rehabilitation, social work, psychology, sociology, human services, counselling, education, or human resources management)
  • Experience effectively and creatively connecting clients to employers based on mutual needs and benefits
  • Experience with Employment Ontario is ideal, but not essential
  • Demonstrated experience conducting and interpreting client assessments; coaching and mentoring clients; working with individuals with complex barriers and diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Knowledge of the local labour market, community resources, government programs, job‑search techniques, and career development
