About Peacebuilders

Peacebuilders is a Toronto‑based non‑profit organization dedicated to improving access to justice for youth involved in the legal system and advocating for transformative changes within our justice and education systems. In Canada, the traditional punitive approaches of the youth justice system often perpetuate cycles of recidivism, failing to address the root causes of youth crime. This limits opportunities for rehabilitation and negatively impacts long‑term community health.

Peacebuilders promotes a restorative approach that fosters social connection, encourages rehabilitation, and invests in building healthier communities. We believe that every young person deserves a chance to be heard, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive.

About the Role

Peacebuilders is seeking a Case Manager to primarily support our Restorative Youth Circles (RYC) program. The RYC program is a court‑diversion program for justice‑involved youth (12‑17 years of age) that uses restorative practices. RYC participants complete group circles with program staff and individual circles with Circle Facilitators to address the root causes of their justice‑involvement and what is needed to ultimately transform their futures.

Successful program completion results in the withdrawal of charges, providing young people with a restorative alternative to traditional court proceedings.

The Case Manager will work closely with the Programs Manager to ensure the effective delivery of programming. This includes providing direct and culturally‑relevant client support from referral to the conclusion of the case, when the Case Manager will provide aftercare support. Additionally, they will oversee and support Peacebuilders’ program staff in their direct client support to ensure file management and completion across programs.

The Case Manager will also oversee and provide culturally‑relevant court navigation support for all young people at the Ontario Court of Justice‑Toronto, to promote comprehensive navigation of the youth court system and justice process. Working closely with the Programs Manager and the Youth Justice & Advocacy Manager, the Case Manager will also support RYC Program design, development and promotion to support the program’s growth and impact.

Successful candidates will have a demonstrated interest and experience in direct client support, including serving Black youth and their communities, be passionate about social justice, and possess managerial and/or extensive supervision experience.

This position is made possible through The Law Foundation of Ontario’s Catalyst Grant.
