Position Summary:

CSN Collision is looking for an Auto Body Technician to join our team. The Auto Body Technician is responsible for repairing or restoring damaged vehicles to their original structural integrity, function, and appearance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and capable of multitasking to accommodate shifting priorities.

Primary Objectives of the Auto Body (Collision Repair) Technician:

  • Review damage reports and estimates of repair costs, and plan work accordingly.
  • Examine collision damage thoroughly, including exterior body parts, power accessories, and warning lights, and identify any overlooked damages.
  • Perform structural and complete body repairs: Repair and replace front end components, body parts, doors, frames, and underbody components. Assess, repair, or replace interior and exterior parts, electrical components, and vehicle accessories.
  • Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment; hammer out dents and defects.
  • Weld on vehicles using MIG welders and spot welders.
  • Fully dismantle damaged areas to identify all hidden damages early in the repair process.
  • File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces using power and hand tools.
  • Mask and tape surfaces in preparation for painting, apply primers, and repaint surfaces.
  • Operate soldering equipment or use plastic fillers for holes, dents, and seams.
  • Restore vehicles to factory specifications.
  • Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive for proper handling.
  • Read and understand repair estimates and procedures.
  • Work with various metals, plastics, glass, electrical, and mechanical parts.
  • Use frame and measuring equipment; disassemble and reassemble vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Require 3+ years of auto body repair and refinishing experience.
  • Preferably hold a Red Seal License (310B or 310Q) or be in a registered apprenticeship program.
  • Certifications such as I-Car and OEM are favorable.
  • Experience with welding, disassembly, and reassembly.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs, stand, sit, walk, reach, and have own tools and safety footwear.
  • Up-to-date compliance training (AODA, WHMIS, Workplace Safety, etc.) and knowledge of PIPEDA.
  • Knowledge of Mitchell / Audatex (3-5 years preferred).
