Marketing Development Specialist – ZEISS Group
Location/Region: Ontario, Canada
OverviewThe Marketing Development Specialist is responsible for Canadian market planning and promotion of Ophthalmic Devices and Refractive Surgical Ophthalmology product lines with the goal of achieving planned revenue and profit targets. The role works with global business sector Management and Marketing teams to provide market research and competitive intelligence, respond to local market conditions, and provide sales and local customer support.
The position also involves managing regional/local KOLs for podium presence at meetings and collaborating with various internal teams to ensure successful product introductions.
- Drive results through the launch of new products, next generation products, and product enhancements
- Create and manage the annual strategic marketing plan for each customer segment within area of responsibility
- Execute regional product launches with global consistency, regional efficiency, and local effectiveness
- Plan and manage product line inventory, pricing, quotation programs, CRM and marketing budget; support forecasting and RFPs
- Monitor market needs and customer acceptance through sales force contact, customer visits, congresses, meetings, and market research
- Monitor sales and profits; report on product line performance and conduct market dynamics analyses
- Manage product line marketing budget and provide input to forecast sales for manufacturing and financial planning
- Understand market dynamics and recommend pricing strategies
- Provide Field Sales with updates on products, services, and market changes
- Contribute local market information for business, marketing, and launch plans
- Develop and nurture local/regional and national KOL relationships; manage KOL contracts
- Support Field Sales with responsiveness to point-of-sales questions
- Provide sales training during phase training sessions, trade shows, and sales meetings
- BA or BS degree, preferably in marketing, engineering or life sciences. An MBA is preferred
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in marketing and/or sales
- Experience in the medical device industry
- Experience bringing new products to market is highly preferred
- Knowledge and experience in the product development process
- Outstanding communication skills (written, presentations, etc.)
- Proven ability to work closely with a field sales team
- Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
- Strong strategic and analytical skills including forecasting, sales and ROI analysis
- Ability to work with internal and external customers through collaboration
- Willing to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 25%) including weekends and holidays
