The Translational Addiction Research Laboratory (TARL) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is seeking a full-time, contract (1 year) Research Coordinator to coordinate human clinical trials involving substance use and other addiction disorders. Reporting to the manager and the PI/Laboratory Head, your responsibilities will include coordinating recruitment, screening, consenting and follow-up of study participants, data collection and database maintenance, preparation and maintenance of subject research records, maintenance of regulatory binders and preparation of reports.

Competency in following best practices and Standard Operating Procedures and policies will be expected. You will also be responsible for assisting ethics and CTA applications, data analysis, and preparation of presentations and manuscripts. You will provide regular updates to the manager and the PI/Lab Head, as well as provide support to the research team in other research-related duties.

This position will involve interactions with scientists and stakeholders with various research backgrounds and require a strong interest in translational science. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity and encourages teamwork.

The position will require a highly experienced health-related research background and the ideal candidate will be capable of conducting daily tasks with minimal supervision. This position is located at 100 Stokes Street.

The successful candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, or a related field with a combination of two (2) or more years of relevant research experience. Previous experience in conducting clinical studies involving mental health and/or addiction is required. Previous experience working with human subjects including experience administering standardized clinical interviews for DSM-5 and other clinical assessment scales is required.

Experience assisting with REB submissions is required and experience with Clinical Trials Application (CTA) preparation is an asset. Previous experience coordinating clinical research, including performing in-person assessments and follow up visits is required. This position requires very strong interpersonal skills, combined with well-developed critical thinking abilities, flexibility, and initiative. Candidates require the ability to explain complex issues in plain language both verbally and in writing.

Candidates will possess the ability for self-directed learning/working, as well as collaboration and teamwork, along with interest in training other members of the team. Candidates require the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
