Job Description

The Quality Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the Quality Management System to ensure that all products and processes meet internal and external requirements. This includes ISO 9001 implementation and compliance, customer expectations, and regulatory standards. The Quality Manager works closely with production, engineering, supply chain, and customer service teams to promote a culture of continuous improvement and drive operational excellence.

This role involves supervising quality team members, leading audits, resolving quality concerns, and acting as the primary point of contact for customer and supplier quality issues. The Quality Manager reports directly to the Director of Manufacturing.

The Quality Manager leads the quality function to maintain and elevate product and process integrity. A key priority is to guide the company through the successful implementation and certification of ISO 9001, laying the foundation for a robust and scalable Quality Management System. This includes overseeing quality control, quality assurance, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and compliance activities. The Quality Manager will play a hands‑on role on the floor while driving data‑driven improvements and cross‑functional alignment throughout the organization.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of ISO 9001, including gap analysis, documentation development, training, and certification readiness.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 and company standards.
  • Lead internal and external audits, manage audit schedules, and coordinate responses to findings.
  • Manage customer complaints, conduct root cause analysis, and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Oversee supplier quality management, follow‑ups, and incoming inspection processes.
  • Ensure that returned products are properly analyzed, recorded, and resolved within required timelines.
  • Drive non‑conformance reporting, material disposition, and containment activities
  • Liaison with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales during product development to embed quality requirements early.
  • Conduct training on quality standards, tools, and inspection equipment; promote quality awareness across departments.
  • Supervise quality staff, schedule work, and ensure adherence to expectations and quality protocols.
  • Manage calibration systems, SPC analysis, and documentation control
  • Communicate effectively across shifts and departments to ensure smooth flow of quality‑related information.
  • Act as the main quality representative during customer visits, product inspections, and certification audits.
  • Support employee performance through regular coaching, cross‑training, and clear accountability.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Quality Management role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven knowledge of ISO 9001 standards, auditing practices, and quality system development.
  • Strong experience with root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions, and supplier quality systems.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems; experience with QMS tools preferred.
  • Hands‑on approach with a strong floor presence and attention to detail.
  • Certification such as CQE, CQA, or Six Sigma is an asset.
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment is preferred.
