As our operations continue to grow, we are seeking a Quality Manager to take ownership of quality management systems, performance, and continuous improvement across projects and the wider business.
PositionThe Quality Manager will play a central role in developing, implementing, and maintaining VSL’s Quality Management System, while supporting project teams to deliver consistently high-quality outcomes. This role combines corporate system development with hands‑on project support, requiring someone who is comfortable working both strategically and operationally in a growing, dynamic construction environment.
Your MissionAs a Quality Manager, you will be responsible for the overall coordination, performance, and continuous improvement of quality management across the organisation.
Quality Management Systems & Governance- Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve VSL’s Quality Management System (QMS), aligned with ISO 9001 and relevant Bouygues Construction standards.
- Establish and update quality procedures, manuals, registers, workflows, and templates.
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, construction standards, legal obligations, and client specifications.
- Lead certification, registration, and surveillance activities, including preparation for and management of external audits.
- Support projects during tender and execution phases, including input into:
- Quality Plans
- Project Management Plans
- Method Statements and quality‑related submissions
- Monitor quality performance across projects, departments, and subcontractors through:
- Audits and inspections
- NCR tracking and trend analysis
- KPIs and performance dashboards
- Lead the management of non‑conformances, including root cause analysis and definition of corrective and preventive actions.
- Analyse quality data and provide clear, actionable reports to management.
- Identify systemic issues, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Challenge poor performance constructively and support teams in driving sustainable improvement.
- Contribute to management reviews and strategic decision‑making related to quality.
- Support and deliver quality‑related training and awareness activities.
- Promote a strong quality culture across office and site teams.
- Ensure procedures are understood, applied, and embedded in day‑to‑day operations.
- 7+ years’ experience in construction‑related quality or QHSE roles.
- Strong experience in Quality Management Systems, ideally including development or improvement of systems at project and/or corporate level.
- Proven experience conducting internal audits, managing NCRs, and driving corrective actions.
- Experience working with subcontractors and suppliers in a construction environment.
- Excellent knowledge of construction activities, processes, specifications, and associated risks.
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and quality‑related legal and contractual requirements.
- Solid auditing capability, including root cause analysis and practical problem‑solving.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights.
- Confident communicator, able to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Organised, structured, and capable of working independently in environments with limited existing frameworks.
- University degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or equivalent).
- Quality‑related qualifications or training (ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or similar) are desirable.
- Willingness to travel to site locations as required by projects.
- Comfortable working in a growing organisation, where systems may need to be built or strengthened over time.
