Position: CROP SCOUT / FIELD TECHNICIAN
Overview
TITLE: CROP SCOUT / FIELD TECHNICAN
LOCATION: BAKERSFIELD, CA
COMPENSATION: $20.00 / HOUR
PURPOSE:
Responsible for scouting insects, diseases, pests, weeds, and other observations in the field, and reporting issues identified to supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Scout for insects, crops diseases, pests, and weeds growing in the field.Learn and become an expert on each of the categories mentioned.Collect soil, tissue, and plant sample for analyses.Locate and identify pests that may impact yield and growth.Conduct root digs in order to look for root-eating pests.Assist with identifying and potentially diagnosing crop diseases or pest infestation.Report filed and crop conditions to PCAs and Agronomists.Input data into AIMS and ensure accurate and timely entry of data.Scout for application efficacy.Generate reports concerning the above information to be made available to the quality control, regulatory, and agronomy teams.Must drive to surrounding areas and make both physical and visual checks on field condition with regards to quality.Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to continuously work outdoors in various and sometimes extreme weather conditions. Ability to continuously work with product and equipment at ground level. Ability to work on uneven terrain both on foot and while aboard moving equipment. Ability to get on and off various stationary and moving equipment. Must wear corrective lenses if required/listed on driver’s license. Must be able to move items weighing up to 50 lbs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
College degree in Biology or related field preferred.Prior farming experience and knowledge of irrigation highly desirable.Strong verbal and written communication skills required.Must have the ability to travel to desert and other regions, as necessary.Must be computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to learn internal proprietary software and systems.Must have strong mindfulness and diligence following rules and guidelines pertaining to job function.Must have the ability to maintain a disciplined work schedule and be willing to learn. Must have a strong work ethic, with ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.Travel requirements may be several days at a time to outside farming areas to support seasonal operations.Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean DMV driving record.Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen, physical and functional capacity evaluation.Benefits
