Protecting Marine Giants:
Safeguarding Marine Life in Italy s Dolphins and Whales Sanctuary role at Global Nomadic. Escape the monotony of your daily routine and answer the call of the Mediterranean as you embark on a 6-day sailing adventure in Italy. This journey blends exploration, relaxation, and personal growth while contributing to marine conservation. You'll join a dedicated team in search of dolphins and other wildlife, with opportunities to observe them in their natural habitat and support data collection.

As you unwind after a day at sea, savour the world-renowned Italian wine and the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean. Your home aboard will be the Jean Gab, a vessel that primarily navigates under sail, serving as a floating laboratory for the hands-on research you'll conduct each day.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and protect dolphins in their natural habitat. Daily tasks include recording geographic position, group size and composition, surface activity patterns, and acoustic vocalizations to support conservation efforts.
  • Record the presence of other marine species such as sea turtles, tuna, swordfish, fish schools, mantas, moonfish, and marine birds to gain insights into Mediterranean ecosystems.
  • Collaborate with fellow participants and experts aboard the Jean Gab to conduct hands-on research, monitoring, and evaluation activities.
  • Learn and participate in sailing duties, including basic rigging techniques and safe watchkeeping (training provided).
