We are currently looking for a compassionate, skilled, and self-driven Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to support a pediatric client in a daycare setting in Toronto (M4K 2N1). This is a 1:1 assignment that requires ongoing clinical monitoring and support throughout the day to ensure the child’s safety, comfort, and participation in daily activities.
Shifts:Tentatively set for 7 hours 9am-4pm, Monday through Wednesday.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Provide dedicated 1:1 nursing care and continuous clinical monitoring for a pediatric client within a daycare setting.
- Deliver care in accordance with the client’s individualized care plan, ensuring the highest standards of safety, comfort, and well‑being.
- Perform complex care interventions, including tracheostomy (trach) care, gastrostomy tube (G-tube) feeding and management, and suctioning, in accordance with established clinical protocols.
- Monitor and assess the client’s respiratory status and overall condition, and respond appropriately to any changes in health status.
- Support the client’s safe participation in daycare activities while maintaining vigilant clinical oversight.
- Collaborate effectively with daycare staff, family members, and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment, ensuring all medical equipment is used, maintained, and stored appropriately.
- Adhere to all infection prevention and control standards, organizational policies, and professional nursing guidelines.
- Accurately and thoroughly document all care provided, observations, and any incidents in a timely manner.
- Practice within the scope of nursing, demonstrating sound clinical judgment, accountability, and professionalism at all times.
- Recognize and respond to urgent or emergency situations in a calm, efficient, and clinically appropriate manner.
- Current registration in good standing with the CNO.
- Demonstrated competence in pediatric nursing care is preferred.
- Experience with tracheostomy care, G-tube management, and suctioning is considered a strong asset.
- Willingness to undergo client‑specific training, as required.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high standard of care in a community setting.
- An asset if you own vehicle and have a valid driver’s licence (not required).
- Negative TB Test completed within the last year.
- COVID Vaccination Receipts subject to an exemption pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
- Valid Criminal Record Check - must be completed within the last year.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English.
- Ability to identify and report client care concerns to Care Coordinators when needed.
- Competitive rates of pay ranging from $37.25-$47.75/hour depending on nursing designation.
