About the Emergency Department
Mount Sinai Hospital’s recently redeveloped Schwartz/Reisman Emergency Centre is a leader in specialized emergency care within the areas of geriatric medicine, mental health care, and early pregnancy care. With approximately , annual visits, we deliver safe, high-quality, emergency care to the critically ill or injured patients we serve within the community.
The ,-square-foot space features medical procedure rooms with ceiling-suspended booms to maximize space, assessment rooms for medical and surgical specialties, a resuscitation room, along with airborne-isolation rooms and a negative-pressure zone for infection control. We have dedicated spaces for specialized services within the department such as ophthalmology and dentistry, Medical Imaging (CT scan and X-ray rooms), and a dedicated behavioural suite for our interprofessional Psychiatry Emergency Service team to assess and plan treatment for patients with mental health or addiction concerns.
Our EMS entrance on University Ave helps streamline patient arrivals, enabling faster emergency response.
