Wage Range: $ - $ per hour
Hours: Hours per Week
Status: Temporary Full-Time (18 Months Contract)

Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides extended nursing care that optimizes patient outcomes, enhances safety, efficiency, effectiveness and accessibility to health care for patients in the Eating Disorders Program
. Collaborating closely with the Nurse Practitioner currently working in the Program for Eating Disorders, the Primary Care/Mental Health Specialist Nurse Practitioner works as a member of an interprofessional team, utilizing their training to provide a range of primary care/mental health services within the scope of their practice and expertise.

Although this role will have a strong focus in the outpatient setting within our program, supporting the intake process of our outpatient program, the Nurse Practitioner could work in all the clinical settings, including our inpatient unit, performing assessments, making diagnoses, and prescribing laboratory tests, investigations and drugs as appropriate. The Nurse Practitioner will work closely with the program psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and other allied health team members to ensure seamless delivery of medical care.

Duties

  • A leadership role in guiding quality improvement.
  • Participating in policy and procedure development.
  • Engaging in evidence-informed practice by critically appraising and applying research and best practice guidelines, and performing research activities.
  • Delivering, coordinating and participating in education and professional development activities/programs.
  • Acting as a resource and serve as a consultant to individuals and groups within the professional community and other hospital/agencies.
  • Performing activities to further develop and strengthen the profession.
  • Performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
  • Qualifications

  • Completion of a Master’s Degree Program in Nursing
  • Registered Nurse (EC) certification complete Nurse Practitioner (NP) Primary Care certificate complete
  • Current Certificate of Competence with College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Three to five years nursing experience in an acute treatment center preferred
  • Experience with mental health care an asset
  • Experience in nursing research methodology preferred
  • Eligible for cross-appointment to an academic institution
  • Membership in the Nurse Practitioners Association of Ontario (NPAO) and other organizations relevant to the role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent and demonstrated interpersonal and customer services skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Excellent decision making, problem recognition and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience in program planning and evaluation methodology skills is required
  • Commitment to collaborative practice
