Position: Registered Nurse - Psychosis Recovery and Treatment Unit 6

Overview

Registered Nurse – Psychosis Recovery and Treatment Unit 6 (PRT
6) at CAMH is accepting part‑time, permanent candidates. The role supports a client‑centered, inter‑professional psychiatric nursing team, ensuring client safety, performing ongoing assessments, and coordinating care across clinical and community services. Positions require a 12‑hour shift rotation with weekend work and are located at the Queen Street Site.

Responsibilities
  • Provide general and psychiatric nursing care following the College of Nurses of Ontario standards, Canadian Standards for Psychiatric‑Mental Health Nursing, CAMH Practice Model, and applicable policy and legislation.
  • Perform ongoing assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate inter‑professional client care plans for clients with Schizophrenia and severe persistent mental illness.
  • Ensure safety and security of the client care environment and intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the prevention and management of disturbed behaviour.
  • Liaise with other services within the Clinical Care Program and community agencies to coordinate care.
  • Provide educational support and supervision to students and participate in program research activities.
Qualifications
  • Registered nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate; preference for candidates possessing or pursuing a

    B.Sc.N. and CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, decision‑making, organizational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the prevention and management of disturbed behaviour.
  • Experience with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds; computer literacy required.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
Employment Details

The position is part‑time, permanent, with a 0.5 commitment that may be subject to change per the Collective Agreement. Additional hours may be available based on operational. These positions are part of the ONA Bargaining Unit.
