Nursing Assistant

The Nursing Assistant at Camp Tamakwa supports the Camp Nurses and Camp Doctors in the Clinic, ensuring the well-being and safety of all campers and staff. This position is an excellent opportunity for nursing students enrolled in a Canadian nursing program, offering valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic summer camp setting.

The Nursing Assistant will collaborate closely with the Camp Nurse and Camp Doctors in the day-today operations of the camp’s clinic.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting in maintaining the clinic’s cleanliness and ensuring it is consistently well-stocked with essential medications and supplies.

• Keeping precise, clear, and concise daily logs and records for both camp staff and campers, contributing to a seamless and well-documented healthcare system.

• Supporting in the dispensing and administration of medications, including ensuring campers receive their prescribed daily medications in a timely and safe manner.

• Communicating effectively with patients regarding follow-up visits and additional medical needs, promoting a proactive approach to camper healthcare.

• Ensuring all medications brought to camp by campers are securely stored under lock and key, unless specified otherwise, to guarantee their safety and proper administration.

• Taking a lead role in preparing and maintaining first aid kits across the camp, including those designated for cookouts and canoe trips, enhancing the camp’s overall safety preparedness.
