The Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator leads the recruitment, engagement and coordination of volunteers and participants who support LEAF’s programs and community presence. The role builds and maintains relationships with volunteers and community partners, coordinates outreach opportunities and helps deliver educational programming that advances awareness of urban forests and LEAF’s work.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The list below outlines the major responsibilities; however, additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
- Develop and implement community outreach strategies to recruit volunteers across LEAF’s service area, targeting specific regions and municipalities as needed
- Coordinate and facilitate volunteer orientations (virtual and in-person, when necessary)
- Collaborate with LEAF team members to identify, plan and support volunteer opportunities across LEAF programs and events
- Use digital tools (CRM database, newsletters, webforms, surveys, webpages, etc.) to manage volunteer communications and coordinate participation.
- Track volunteer participation and hours, maintain accurate records and manage regular volunteer recognition initiatives including the Summer Garden Party
- Recruit volunteers to participate in LEAF’s Outreach Team
- Train Outreach Team volunteers on LEAF programs, key messaging and community engagement practices
- Identify outreach events within LEAF’s service area and coordinate the Outreach Team’s participation
- Represent LEAF at outreach events as needed
- Track outreach activities and maintain records of events, participation and engagement outcomes
- Support identifying and coordinating opportunities for educational events, including but not limited to, tree tours and presentations to increase recognition of LEAF and its programs and events
- Deliver educational tours and presentations on various topics related to urban forests, arboriculture and LEAF’s mission
- Provide general program administration, including managing data flows and maintaining records in our CRM system
- Track program metrics and contribute to reporting
- Capture and compile content for reports, the website, social media, newsletters and other communications
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Equivalent:
Degree or diploma in Urban Forestry;
Environmental Science;
Non-profit Management;
Volunteer Management or related field
G or G2 Driver’s License;
Clean Driving Record
