About Us

Canadian Friends of the Israel Guide Dog Center (CFIGDC) provides guide dogs and service dogs to Israelis living with vision loss, PTSD, and other disabilities. Through donor engagement, foundation partnerships, and community outreach, we help restore independence, dignity, and confidence to people whose lives have been deeply impacted by trauma and disability.

We are a small, mission-driven organization with a strong national donor base and we work closely with our partners in Israel.

The Role

The Development & Outreach Associate is a key support role within our fundraising and engagement efforts. Reporting directly and exclusively to the Executive Director, this position supports foundation fundraising, donor stewardship, events, and outreach activities, while assisting marketing and communications initiatives.

This role is ideal for an early-career professional who is organized, detail-oriented, relationship-driven, and eager to build a strong foundation in nonprofit development within a supportive and hands-on environment.

  • Support donor stewardship activities, including acknowledgements, updates, and impact reporting.
  • Assist with donor and prospect tracking using Donor Perfect.
  • Prepare briefing materials and background research for meetings with donors and foundations.
  • Support the setup and execution of fundraising campaigns using Crowd Change and other platforms.
  • Support fundraising events and donor engagement activities as required.

  • Assist with outreach to donors, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Help coordinate meetings, site visits, and small group events when needed.
  • Represent the organization professionally at select community or donor-facing activities.

Marketing & Communications Support

  • Assist with content preparation for donor communications, email updates, newsletters, and reports.
  • Support social media, website updates, and campaign communications as directed.
  • Help gather and organize stories, photos, and testimonials from Israel-based partners.
  • Maintain organized records of communications materials and contact lists.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure messaging is accurate, donor-focused, and impact-driven.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, business, or a related discipline is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with Donor Perfect or similar donor databases preferred.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; familiarity with email marketing platforms and Canva an asset.
