Work Schedule: Onsite, Afternoon Shift: Monday – Thursday; 4:00 pm- 2:00 am (38 hrs per week)
Work Term: Summer 2026 (4 Months: May - August)
CompensationAt S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, with a commitment to transparency in our pay practices. The hourly pay range for this position is $20.50 - $26.00. Individual pay within this range is determined by several compensable factors, including the year of study, type of academic program, and the number of prior co-op work terms completed.
This position is entitled to $1 shift premium amount per hour.
Join Our Team as an Assistant CNC Operator - Afternoon Shift (Co-op)! The Assistant CNC Operator is responsible for setting up and performing basic maintenance of the CNC machine, following work orders to produce parts for our units according to S&C Safety Procedures and Quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Set up, adjust and operate CNC machine according to work orders and specifications.
- Responsible for set up with minor program.
- Use manual pump trucks, cranes (over head / jib) and lift devices as required to move material and finished product(s).
- Monitor machine operation and perform trouble shooting tactics when necessary.
- Ensure parts are manufactured in accordance with quality standards, target plans and verify correct run quantities.
- Visually inspect parts after each machine cycle and perform inspections as required.
- Optimize the running of parts to best take advantage of the machine’s operating time.
- Filling out production boards with output for the shift as well as assisting in planning afternoon shift production.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and follow organizational practices.
- Strives for continuous improvement in all aspects of the work environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Perform all duties following Health and Safety procedures, including but not limited to wear PPE, follow sanitization routines, etc.
- In a registered co-op program and eligible for the Summer 2026 work term.
- Currently pursuing a post secondary education as a Mechanical Engineering Technician or related field.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment considered an asset.
- Previous experience as a CNC Machine Operator considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to use caliper, micrometer, go no-go gauges, etc.
- Excellent mechanical/mathematical aptitude and manual dexterity.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles considered an asset.
- Standing:
All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking. - Lifting:
Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs. - Walking:
Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km). - Carrying:
Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs. - Pushing:
Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs. - Pulling:
Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs. - Bending:
Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes. - Reaching:
Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees. - Handling:
Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20…
