Hours:

Full-time. 40 hours per week.

Schedule:

Monday to Friday – 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Hourly rate: $19 - $22 per hour

As a Heavy Duty Sewing Operator, you will perform skilled industrial sewing tasks to help build firefighter turnout suits that meet our customer specifications and quality expectations. This role involves working with heavy materials and requires the ability to repeatedly lift, move, and handle items weighing up to 30 lbs throughout the day.
Your work contributes directly to protecting first responders — you can help save lives.

• Operate a sewing machine. Single, double, or multi-needle serger.
• Sew gear in accordance with job specifications (job cards).
• Prepare machine by changing needles and thread, and oiling and changing bobbin. Mount sewing machine attachments like needles, threads, pattern plates or cutting blades, and adjust machine guides according to the job specifications.
• Handle and maneuver heavy-duty materials and components throughout the shift (up to 30 lbs).
• Meet delivery deadlines by working with team to ensure products are made correctly and with good quality and meet production goals set by supervisor.
• Understand quality requirements and how this position affects quality: on time delivery, material tracking, and meeting customer requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in sewing area.
• Other duties as needed.

• Must be able to follow instructions consistently with minimum supervision.
• Must be able to read job cards and follow sewing standards.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Must follow company rules and regulations.
• Ability to multi-task.

• High School diploma or GED
• Previous experience working with industrial sewing equipment
• Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to work well with a team
• Self-motivated and organized

• Standing, sitting, walking, bending as needed.
• Using proper lifting technique may be required to lift objects up to 30 lbs.

Must be legally able to work in Canada and, where applicable, must have a valid work permit.
