Agropur is looking for a Strategic MRO Buyer (vacant position) who combines strong procurement expertise with maintenance knowledge to join our Don Mills team.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Strategic MRO Buyer goes beyond traditional purchasing, focuses on cost optimization, inventory efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives. He will develop sourcing strategies, negotiate with suppliers, and implement processes that reduce costs and improve reliability. This position also requires the ability to step in as a backup for the Maintenance Supervisor when needed.

• Salary range 004: $78, 300 to $ 98, 900 (Salary will be determined based on skills, education, training & experience related to the position.)

More specifically, the responsibilities of the Strategic MRO Buyer will be:

• Manage procurement of maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) parts and services, ensuring timely availability for planned jobs.

• Develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives:

  • Identify alternative suppliers, reverse engineering opportunities, and local fabrication options.

  • Optimize OEM vs. ODM purchasing strategies to reduce costs without compromising quality.

• Drive inventory optimization:

  • Maintain accurate CMMS data, BOM updates, and stock levels.

  • Implement automatic reorder processes and reduce obsolete/non-moving parts.

  • Consolidate inventory and standardize components to minimize complexity.

• Negotiate pricing and contracts with suppliers to achieve best value.

• Collaborate with Maintenance and Reliability teams to support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

• Oversee storeroom operations in partnership with the Stores Clerk, ensuring proper receiving, kitting, and inventory control.

• Act as backup for Maintenance Supervisor when required, ensuring continuity of operations and compliance with safety standards.

• Promote continuous improvement by identifying cost-saving opportunities and process enhancements.

• Education:
  
  College or university degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Maintenance, or related field.

• Minimum 5 years in procurement and inventory management, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

• Strong understanding of maintenance processes and technical components (mechanical and electrical).

• Proficiency with CMMS systems and inventory control.

• Strategic mindset for cost optimization and vendor management.

• Ability to analyze consumption trends and implement process improvements.

• Preferred:
  Knowledge of repair programs, local sourcing strategies, and continuous improvement methodologies.
