Work Schedule: Onsite, Afternoon Shift: Monday – Thursday; 4:00 pm- 2:00 am (38 hrs per week)

Work Term: Summer 2026 (4 Months: May - August)

Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, with a commitment to transparency in our pay practices.
The hourly pay range for this position is $20.50 - $26.00. Individual pay within this range is determined by several compensable factors, including the year of study, type of academic program, and the number of prior co‑op work terms completed. This position is entitled to $1 shift premium amount per hour.

Join Our Team as an Assistant CNC Operator - Afternoon Shift (Co-op)!

The Assistant CNC Operator is responsible for setting up and performing basic maintenance of the CNC machine, following work orders to produce parts for our units according to S&C Safety Procedures and Quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up, adjust and operate CNC machine according to work orders and specifications.
• Responsible for set up with minor program.
• Use manual pump trucks, cranes (over head / jib) and lift devices as required to move material and finished product(s).
• Monitor machine operation and perform trouble shooting tactics when necessary.
• Ensure parts are manufactured in accordance with quality standards, target plans and verify correct run quantities.
• Visually inspect parts after each machine cycle and perform inspections as required.
• Optimize the running of parts to best take advantage of the machine’s operating time.
• Filling out production boards with output for the shift as well as assisting in planning afternoon shift production.
• Maintain cleanliness of work area and follow organizational practices.
• Strives for continuous improvement in all aspects of the work environment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Perform all his duties following Health and Safety procedures, including but not limited to wear PPE, follow sanitization routines, etc.

What you’ll Need To Succeed:

• In a registered co‑op program and eligible for the Summer 2026 work term.
• Currently pursuing a post secondary education as a Mechanical Engineering Technician or related field.
• Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment considered an asset.
• Previous experience as a CNC Machine Operator considered an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Ability to use caliper, micrometer, go no‑go gauges, etc.
• Excellent mechanical/mathematical aptitude and manual dexterity.
• Good communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced work environment with minimal supervision.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles considered an asset.

Physical demands:
• Standing:
All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.

• Lifting:
Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs.

• Walking:
Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km).

• Carrying:
Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.

• Pushing:
Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.

• Pulling:
Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.

• Bending:
Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes.

• Reaching:
Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below…
