In this role, you will:
  • Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Supports the coordination and documentation of the Enterprise Crisis Management governance structure that spans the crisis management lifecycle, including end-to-end process flows, playbooks and biannual governance activities.
  • Drives appropriate stakeholder awareness of the Bank’s Enterprise Crisis and Business Continuity Management program and guidelines. Works as a collaborative and strategic partner with business lines to increase their preparation for, and ability to manage potential crises that may impact their operations. This includes the production of comprehensive dashboards on seasonal risks and other emerging threats to the organization as they surface.
  • Supports collaboration with internal and external stakeholders in the delivery of key initiatives focused on Crisis Management, with the objective of creating an improved end state by:
  • Managing projects and initiatives that focus on the ongoing sustainment and continuous improvement of the Enterprise Crisis Management function.
  • Preparing and/or reviewing communication material, including presentation decks, playbooks and status updates, ensuring content is applicable to target audiences and aligns with overall program objectives.
  • Working closely with the Director and other members of ECBCM to identify special projects that are in line with the strategic objectives of the group and that serve to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Enterprise Crisis Management.
  • Leveraging and interpreting data and reporting to identify solutions and drive recommendations for complex issues to inform business decision making.
  • Liaising with key stakeholders to ensure effective management of the Executive Business Continuity Plan.
  • Works closely with the Director and other team members to help plan for and lead the organization's response to significant disruptive events. Supports the Director in all aspects of the role.
  • Works collaboratively with team members to support the ongoing management and utilization of Everbridge, the Bank’s enterprise-wide mass notification tool. Acts as a designated backup resource to ensure consistent end user support and supports special initiatives associated with the application.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 2+ years working in the financial services industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in project management, program governance, and change management practices
  • Demonstrated capabilities in coordinating and planning activities related to incidents/crises that disrupt business operations.
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills: ability to use advanced formulas in Excel, work with large data files, analyze and summarize information/present complex issues in easy-to-review briefings or presentations.
  • Fluency in Spanish would be an asset/nice to have
  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Incident support outside of regular working hours may be required.
  • Part of on-site crisis rotation team; required to be in-office as per schedule
