The Director, Food Service (including grocery foodservice) is responsible for defining and executing the commercial strategy for the Retail and Food Service channels to deliver sustainable, profitable growth. This role provides strategic leadership across channel planning, strategic account development, team capability building, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Growth & Channel Strategy
  • Define and own HMR and Food Service channel strategies aligned with corporate priorities and long-term growth objectives
  • Establish strategic account growth targets and success metrics in partnership with National Key Account Managers
  • Use market and customer data to identify growth opportunities and develop value-based commercial plans
  • Identify new market opportunities to expand share, protect core business, and accelerate strategic innovation initiatives
  • Sales Leadership & Commercial Enablement
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing HMR & Food Service sales organization (approximately 4-8 team members)
  • Provide strategic direction, prioritization, and decision support to the sales team
  • Ensure consistent execution of sales strategies, value selling, and portfolio positioning across key customers
  • Drive capability development through structured training programs focused on product knowledge, selling skills, commercial acumen, and leadership
  • Business Management & Governance
  • Analyze sales trends, profitability, and performance versus targets
  • Contribute to annual planning, forecasting, and budget management
  • Support succession planning, talent development, and employee engagement initiatives
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Marketing, R&D, Operations, and Finance to create an integrated go-to-market approach
  • Build and sustain a strong, future-focused business pipeline
  • Collaborate with industry and technical teams to ensure customer strategies are rooted in market relevance and innovation
  • Data, Insights & Customer Engagement
  • Leverage consumer insights, customer marketing tools, and analytics to guide strategic decision-making
  • Champion insight-driven storytelling to elevate customer conversations from transactional to strategic
  • Ensure performance dashboards and reporting tools are consistently used to track progress and adjust plans
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional projects and initiatives
  • Participate in mentorship and leadership development programs
  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions
  • Travel required:

    approximately 20-40% (primarily domestic, with occasional international travel)

  • Education & Experience Requirements
  • 8-12 years of progressive commercial experience in Retail and/or Food Service
  • Demonstrated success in leading strategic sales initiatives and driving profitable growth
  • Extensive experience using consumer insights, category management, and customer marketing to influence business outcomes
  • Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively across functions
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and strategic planning capabilities
  • University degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline preferred
