Our Human Resources, Health & Wellness team is seeking a Senior Disability Case Management Consultant in a full-time permanent capacity. This role involves technical expertise to administer pre-employment testing, manage a caseload of short-term (STD), long-term disability (LTD), temporary medical accommodation, medication review, and attendance support cases as needed. This position ensures that all activities align with organizational policies, program standards, relevant legislation, collective agreement(s), and industry best practices.
What will I be doing?
Implement and support the administration and continuous improvement of pre-employment testing by coordinating all testing with internal stakeholders and external provider(s), ensuring activities are completed in alignment with internal policies, relevant legislation, and applicable collective agreement(s).
Provide expert advice and communicate pre-employment test results to internal stakeholders, providing clear explanations and guidance to support understanding and follow‑up action.
Review and evaluate employee eligibility for Short Term Disability (STD), medical accommodation and attendance support requests in accordance with policy provisions and applicable collective agreements. Provide backup and support for WSIB case management as required.
Manage the day‑to‑day activities for case management services including communication of decisions to all stakeholders.
Liaison with health care providers and third‑party administrators/vendors such as LTD insurers, rehabilitation service providers, etc.
Administer the Fit for Duty Program including medication review in line with disability management best practice and corporate strategy, relevant legislation, and collective agreements.
Coordinate and implement modified work assignments/return to work/work hardening plans for employees.
Work with internal and external stakeholders to assess and proactively manage an employee’s absence and accommodation needs.
Provide consultation and guidance to manage occupational and non‑occupational permanent medical accommodation cases to facilitate sustainable placements or a suitable resolution, in consultation with various stakeholders including employee, insurers, various HR teams, people leaders, union representatives and legal services as required.
Review case and provide preparatory support in employee claims appeals, grievances including representing Metrolinx on litigated claims.
Educate stakeholders on Health and Wellness policies and processes to ensure efficiency, fair and consistent practices.
Manage internal stakeholder relationships to ensure appropriate follow‑up is provided for safe and timely return to work.
Maintain excellent relationships with vendors and stakeholders to ensure quality and consistent services are provided and delivered.
Ensure that Health & Wellness program services are being delivered in compliance with legislation (PIPEDA, PHIPA, AODA, OHRC, WSIA).
Maintain the integrity and privacy of highly confidential personal and medical information.
Monitor workplace and workforce trends and support the preparation of statistical data on incidents/illnesses for regular reporting and to make practical recommendations for continuous improvement.
