Position: Director Total Rewards

Our client is a large, global organization seeking a senior Total Rewards leader to play a key role in the continued evolution of its rewards strategy globally.

Reporting to the Vice President, Total Rewards, this role will lead regional Total Rewards strategy while holding enterprise-level accountability for global programs. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape and strengthen a progressive total rewards function within a complex, matrixed, multinational environment.

The Director, Total Rewards will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, translating business strategy into scalable, compliant, and market-aligned compensation, equity, benefits, and mobility programs. The role also includes leadership of a lean, high-performing compensation and benefits team and oversight of key external vendors and advisors.

Core Responsibilities

Partner with the VP, Total Rewards to design and implement a comprehensive, performance-based total rewards strategy aligned to business priorities, with primary accountability for an international region and global program governance.

Maintain deep knowledge of International, U.S. and Canadian regulatory requirements (e.g., ERISA, 401(k), 409A, HIPAA, pay transparency) and ensure compliance across all programs. Manage relationships with insurers, brokers, recordkeepers, and advisors, including contract negotiation and cost optimization.

3. Transformation & Advisory Support

Support M&A activity through compensation and benefits due diligence. Contribute to broader HR and enterprise transformation initiatives by aligning rewards programs with financial, operational, and talent objectives.

Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing compensation and benefits team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile
  • 10+ years of progressive Total Rewards experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role within a large, complex, multinational organization
  • Deep expertise across compensation, benefits, equity, and global mobility programs
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. and Canadian regulatory environments; exposure to additional international regulatory frameworks is an asset
  • Proven ability to align total rewards strategy with business, financial, and talent objectives
  • Experience leading transformation, change management, or program redesign in fast-paced or growth-oriented environments
  • Strong analytical, communication, and executive-facing advisory skills
  • Inclusive, collaborative leadership style with a high degree of discretion and integrity
  • Authorized to work full-time in Canada or the United States
