This respected community health centre is dedicated to advancing health equity across Toronto. It delivers high-quality, integrated primary health care through an interdisciplinary team that includes primary care providers, mental health clinicians, health promoters, and community support professionals.
Location:The office is located in Toronto (East), Ontario, and the Manager, CEO’s Office, Governance and Strategic Initiatives is expected to maintain a strong on-site presence, working primarily in the office four to five days per week. Consistent in-person availability is required to effectively support executive operations, Board and Committee functions, and organization-wide strategic initiatives. Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours is also required on a limited basis (approximately 2–5 evenings per month) to support Board and Committee meetings and other essential responsibilities.
The role also includes some local travel between organizational sites.
The Manager, CEO’s Office, Governance and Strategic Initiatives provides leadership across governance operations and executive coordination, supporting the effective functioning of the CEO’s Office, strengthening Board governance and compliance, and advancing strategic alignment across the organization. This is an individual contributor role, with accountability for independently leading and delivering high-quality work across these areas. The role is well suited to a self-directed professional who takes initiative, leads work autonomously, and produces accurate, thorough, and well-organized outputs in environments where processes may still be evolving.
The successful candidate demonstrates strong time-management and prioritization skills, effectively balancing multiple, concurrent priorities in a fast-paced setting while exercising sound judgment and attention to detail. An excellent communicator and strategic thinker, they convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences and are motivated by purpose-driven work.
- Lead coordination and administration of board and committee meetings
- Oversee agenda development, briefing materials, minutes, and follow-up tracking
- Maintain governance records, policies, charters, and compliance documentation
- Support board recruitment, onboarding, and annual governance processes
- Ensure adherence to best practices in non-profit governance
Manage the workflow, priorities, and communications of the CEO’s office
Prepare executive briefings, backgrounders, and strategic documents
Support CEO engagement with external partners, funders, and stakeholders
Ensure alignment of organizational activities with CEO direction
Track organizational priorities, ensuring follow-up and timely execution
Serve as a liaison between the CEO and internal departments
Support integration of major initiatives, reporting cycles, and organizational planning
Draft executive-level correspondence and communications on behalf of the CEO
Ensure consistent, high-quality documentation standards across governance processes
Maintain confidential files, sensitive records, and risk-related documentation
Provide guidance on governance trends, risks, and compliance issues
Recommend improvements to governance processes and structures
Represent the CEO’s office in internal meetings when delegated
Project Management (30%)As proficiency in the role increases, the focus of the position is expected to evolve, with a greater emphasis on leading strategic initiatives while continuing to support the other core domains.
