Sr Director of Operations, Real World Late Phase (Open to several locations)

Job Responsibilities- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction to project teams; act as subject‑matter expert for operations strategies.
- Translate and execute client‑defined strategies; work with leadership to develop strategy for area of responsibility.
- Ensure cost‑effective integrated solutions are presented consultatively to meet clients’ peri‑ and post‑approval evidentiary needs.
- Accountable for growth and support of multiple RWLP‑aligned client accounts through excellence in operational delivery and proactive development of repeat business opportunities.
- Oversee all aspects of the client relationship from proposal development to project completion.
- Deliver books of work according to scope, timeline, budget, and regulatory requirements (SOPs, GPP, GCP, ICH, etc.).
- Identify clients’ RWE needs; coordinate internal SMEs and cross‑functional teams to provide optimal support.
- Maintain senior‑management client relationships via 1:1s, governance meetings, and other forums.
- Develop and present strategic communications (capabilities presentations, BDM presentations, steering‑committee materials).
- Lead RFP and RFI processes, vendor selection, budgeting, and proposal framework.
- Align and motivate RWLP teams across multiple research studies/programs toward excellence in delivery.
- Share lessons learned and best practices across programs; build relationships with key stakeholders at all levels.
- Provide technical and operational leadership for the client RW portfolio, including financial management and KPI tracking.
- Oversee vendor/partner services and integrate service offerings that meet operational needs.
- Serve as escalation point within the RWLP BU, Syneos Health organization, and clients.
- Lead risk identification and mitigation, issue resolution, and stakeholder collaboration initiatives.
- May have direct reports and may travel up to 25% of time.
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or equivalent; advanced degree (MSc, MPH, PhD, MD, MBA) preferred.
- 6–8 years of experience managing studies and 6–8 years of RWLP experience, including CRO/pharma background in peri‑ and post‑approval research.
- Portfolio and client/account management with RFP/proposal development, bid defenses, and capability presentations.
- Experience with virtual/decentralized studies and cross‑functional project management within the CRO/Pharma industry.
- Strong knowledge of the end‑to‑end product cycle and how real‑world research fits into it.
- Business and financial acumen, including contractual negotiation experience.
- Proven ability to drive strategic operations decisions with multiple stakeholders.
- Global, diversity‑oriented people‑management experience, including line management and matrix management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; team‑oriented approach.
- Strong working knowledge of real‑world operational and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in virtual communications and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and spoken English.
