The Store Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring UNIQLO store facilities, equipment, and systems operate safely, efficiently, and are in alignment with company standards. The role performs routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance while supporting store operations through proactive issue identification, vendor coordination, budget control, and compliance with safety regulations. The Specialist also leverages maintenance data to recommend improvements that enhance store quality and reduce long-term costs.
Key Responsibilities Routine Maintenance- Perform routine inspections of store facilities, equipment, fixtures, and systems to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
- Conduct basic repairs and upkeep, including plumbing, lighting, fixtures, carpentry, and minor structural repairs.
- Maintain store cleanliness and organization related to maintenance areas and equipment.
- Implement and execute preventative maintenance programs to extend lifespan of building systems and equipment.
- Identify potential issues early and take corrective action to prevent operational disruptions or costly repairs.
- Coordinate scheduled maintenance and inspections with external service providers as required.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment and system malfunctions, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot technical issues efficiently to minimize impact on store operations and customer experience.
- Manage inventory of maintenance tools, parts, and supplies, ensuring availability while controlling costs.
- Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with applicable safety regulations, company policies, and local codes.
- Identify, report, and remediate safety hazards to maintain a safe environment for customers and employees.
- Adhere to established safety protocols, including proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain accurate and timely records of inspections, repairs, preventative maintenance, and vendor activities.
- Document recurring issues and maintenance trends to support operational planning and continuous improvement.
- Prepare reports and recommendations based on historical data to inform future store designs and maintenance strategies.
- Support maintenance budget planning aligned with company-wide P&L objectives.
- Monitor monthly maintenance performance and expenditures, identifying variances and improvement opportunities.
- Propose store improvement plans based on performance data and exception analysis.
- Coordinate and oversee external vendors and contractors, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely service delivery.
- Evaluate vendor performance and support onboarding of new service providers as required.
- Ensure vendor activities align with UNIQLO standards, safety requirements, and cost expectations.
- Minimum 3 years of store or facility maintenance experience is required.
- Retail maintenance experience is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and basic carpentry.
- Ability to safely operate tools and equipment required for maintenance activity.
- Prior experience with Service Channel is an asset.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Clear and professional communication skills when working with store teams, management, and vendors.
- High attention to detail with a proactive, preventative mindset.
- Solid understanding of workplace safety practices, regulations, and compliance standards.
