The Electrician (Facility Technician) holds a valid Certificate of Qualification issued by the province in which the work is performed and has passed any examination which may be required. This role is responsible for operating facility systems; performing preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services on facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems for the assigned facility within the limits of company policy and trade certification.

This role is also responsible for performing work in accordance with established processes and practices and for complying with internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, fire protection.

• Operates facility systems
• Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems
• Trade certification or license of the following - required:
  Journeyman level Electrical license
• Performs work in accordance to established processes and practices
• Complies with all internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, fire protection
• Performs regular facility, facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems monitoring and inspection, preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure facility uptime objectives are met, uninterrupted client operation and asset integrity of assigned facility are maintained
• Provides observations about facility, equipment conditions and deficiencies and provides recommendations for enhancement and repair
• Monitors assigned facility by conducting facility walkthroughs and equipment monitoring and inspection
• Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and electrical building systems and equipment within policy and certification limits and oversees service providers
• Responds to routine and on-demand service requests and performs preventative and corrective maintenance on facility systems
• Manages work order lifecycle from dispatch to completion and records resolution data
• Receives, tracks, monitors and reports status of maintenance and repair work
• Assists in the implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) program and ensures deficiencies are identified and escalated
• Participates in facility-related projects
• Ensures work complies with environmental, health and safety, fire protection and other applicable requirements
• Maintains all assigned tools and arranges for repair and replacement where required
• Submits all expenditures on a timely basis
• Assists in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through work performance and service delivery
• Other duties as assigned

• Trains and mentors critical facility engineering teams
• People Management
  • Support the creation, review, and approval of critical environment procedures.
  • Oversee Computerized Maintenance Management System usage and reporting.
  • Supervise contractors.
  • Ensure adherence to BGIS Safety Policy and Procedures.
• Customer Service
  • Back-up the Critical Facility Manager as point of contact for clients and project teams.
  • Maintain positive and professional working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Respond to customer requests for service.
• Maintain Data Center System
  • Resolve maintenance issues.
  • Oversight of daily, weekly, and monthly work order assignments.
  • Reviews equipment data for potential improvements, monitors systems data for abnormal trends, and suggests adjustments.
  • Manages the development of new projects.
  • Troubleshoot, evaluate and recommend system upgrades.
  • Order parts and supplies for maintenance and repairs.
  • Solicit proposals for outsourced work.
  • Work with vendors and contractors to ensure their work meets BGIS and Client standards.
  • Perform all maintenance to ensure the highest level of efficiency without disruption to the business.
  • Accurate and timely completion of work order requests.
  • Escalate issues to the Critical Environment Facility Manager as needed.

• 3-5 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience
• High school diploma plus trades training and certification or licensing
• Advanced ability to adhere to and execute processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance
• Advanced ability to maintain and repair mechanical and electrical building systems and equipment within the limits of certifications and policies
