Position: Safety Watch / Confined Space Attendant

Total Group of Companies is an industrial service provider specializing in fire, rescue, medical, and HSE services. With facilities in Red Deer, AB;
Guelph, ON; and Winnipeg, MB, we proudly support clients across Canada.

We are currently seeking a Confined Space Attendant to join our team for a planned shutdown in Goderich, Ontario working alongside experienced rescue personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain familiarity with confined space entry (CSE) requirements and procedures
  • Support air trailer operations and cylinder refilling
  • Ensure all personnel comply with Occupational Health & Safety regulations
  • Conduct pre-shift and ongoing inspections for potential flammable vapors or hazardous conditions
  • Set up, inspect, and maintain required safety equipment and PPE
  • Participate in pre-job meetings with focus on site-specific hazards
  • Exercise stop work authority when unsafe conditions exist
  • Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture
  • Support emergency response and job-specific rescue plans
  • Be prepared to operate fire extinguishers, hydrants, monitors, and hose carts as required
  • Maintain constant visual and verbal communication with workers
  • Continuously monitor atmospheric conditions
  • Notify control room at start and completion of confined space entries
  • Complete all required CSE documentation, including logging workers and equipment
  • Report emergencies immediately to ERT and control room
  • Secure and flag confined space entry points when unattended
  • Report all hazards, near misses, incidents, injuries, and illnesses promptly
  • Assist with site clean-up when not actively performing safety watch duties

To be considered, applicants must:
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be legally authorized to work in Canada (valid SIN required)
  • Hold a valid driver’s license with access to reliable transportation
  • Provide a clean or satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
  • Successfully pass pre-employment Drug & Alcohol testing
Required Certification

The following certification is mandatory:

  • Confined Space Entry & Monitor
Asset Certifications (Training Available)

The following are considered assets but are not required:

  • Fall Protection
  • Respirator Fit Test
  • LEL Detection & Control
  • Fire Extinguisher
  • Standard First Aid & CPR

Site-specific training will be provided as required.
