The Opportunity:

The Building Operator, Level 3 is a junior level building operator responsible for operational and technical support in a portfolio of buildings in Toronto. This individual is responsible for installation, repair and maintenance to climate control and other mechanical systems within the complex. The primary objective of the Building Operator, Level 3 is to ensure that the assigned building or complex of buildings is being managed and maintained in a safe and environmentally responsible manner and to the highest level of operational efficiency.

What You Will Do:

  • Install, repair and maintain climate control and other mechanical systems within a building
  • Oversee preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, lighting, electrical, elevating devices, roofing and life safety systems;
  • General maintenance including housekeeping such as sweeping, litter pick up, shoveling and pressure washing;
  • Assist with environmental assessments and reporting;
  • Participate in corporate occupational health and safety program;
  • Assist with waste, recycling and hazardous materials issues;
  • Monitor of computerized control systems;
  • Respond to tenant service requests;
  • Assist with insurance and risk management inspections, remedial actions and reporting;
  • Remain current and up to date with new industry practices, legislative changes and new technologies;
  • Embrace and proactively support BGO's culture of environmental responsibility and social responsibility.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve energy consumption
  • Quickly respond to and manage environmental hazards
  • Consider sustainability when evaluating options for replacement equipment
  • Participate in tenant and staff community support events as appropriate
  • Participate in the on-call rotation which may include all buildings in the portfolio.

  • Who You Are:

  • Technical Qualifications - The Building Operator, Level 3 shall have the following technical qualifications or industry equivalency:
    Working towards completion of BES 1 & 2 is mandatory 2 year of direct work experience holding a junior or intermediate position in building operations an asset but not a requirement Working knowledge of BAS systems is a benefit a valid driver’s license;
    Entry level skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Communication & Relationship Skills - Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both oral and written, with all levels within the company; mature and self-motivated team player who is committed to personal growth and ethical integrity.
  • Time Management / Working Environment - Ability to allocate one’s time effectively and manage tight deadlines; ability to work under pressure and achieve quality results; ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities, adaptable to new ideas and embrace changes; results and detail oriented; work within an environment that is subject to moderate to high levels of stress in emergency or conflict…
