Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, General Labor, Building Maintenance
Position Overview
Full‑time support staff – 12‑month contract. Reporting to the Caretaker Supervisor, the Residence Caretaker cleans and maintains the interior and exterior of residential buildings and surrounding grounds, installs, repairs and maintains electrical, mechanical, building, plumbing and heating systems, equipment and components within the Student Residences, and assists with on‑campus event set‑up, snow removal and lawn care.
Key Responsibilities- Clean and maintain interior and exterior of residential buildings and grounds.
- Install, repair and maintain electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating systems and equipment.
- Assist with on‑campus event set‑up, snow removal and lawn care.
- Respond to issues using a supplied phone and travel between buildings as needed.
- Work varying days and hours, including evenings, weekends and emergency calls.
- Grade 12 diploma and at least one year of relevant work experience.
- Experience in electrical and mechanical work, building systems and components; WHMIS, CPR and First Aid training are assets.
- Ability to provide a negative Criminal Record Check before employment start date.
- Valid “G” driver’s licence.
- Schedule flexibility to accommodate varying shifts and potential emergency duties.
The target hiring range is $24.09 to $25.70 per hour, with potential to progress to a maximum rate of $30.50 per hour based on market conditions, internal equity, and candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications.
