Position Overview

This role is ideal for a professional who enjoys responsibility, structure, and precision — someone who wants to grow into a Senior Clerk, Legal Operations, or Practice Management role over time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft correspondence, coordinate client communications, and manage follow‑ups.
  • Handle phone calls, scheduling, and day‑to‑day operational tasks.
  • Support the Principal Lawyer with case coordination.
  • Perform document management: scanning, binding, photocopying, and organizing files.
  • Maintain case‑management systems (Cosmolex, Clio, or similar).
  • Schedule conferences, hearings, and examinations with the courts and opposing counsel.
  • File court documents (in‑person and electronically) and serve materials in accordance with Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical files, following firm policy and naming conventions.
  • Track court deadlines, undertakings, and limitation periods.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Law Clerk, Paralegal, or Legal Assistant in civil litigation.
  • In‑depth knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, Courts of Justice Act, and general court processes.
  • Law Clerk or Paralegal Diploma/Certificate (required).
  • University Degree (asset but not required).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and legal practice management software (Cosmolex, Clio, PC Law, or similar).
  • Excellent drafting, proofreading, and document organization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and client communication skills.
  • Familiarity with litigation timelines, filing systems, and court portals.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary Range: $55,000 – $90,000/year (commensurate with experience and performance).
