ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT, CEDED REINSURANCE– TORONTO

Accountabilities include:

  • Leading the reinsurance placement processes including attending reinsurer meetings and trips, underwriting submission preparation, structural analysis, and contract reviews
  • Managing post-placement activities including coordinating with various internal business leaders across the underwriting, claims, finance, and systems
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to support month-end processes including reinsurance calculations, reporting requirements, settlements, and collateral
  • Analyzing reinsurance contracts, policies, and claims to ensure alignment with regulations and company guidelines
  • Overseeing compliance with corporate policies including those related to reinsurer due diligence and assessments
  • Creating reports and presentations to communicate reinsurance data and analysis to internal stakeholders
  • Implementing a new reinsurance system to drive efficiencies and support future growth
  • Managing a team of reinsurance professionals to support all reinsurance activities

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in reinsurance, insurance, or financial analysis within an insurance or reinsurance company, including a reinsurance brokerage
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Actuarial Science, or a related field
  • Proficient knowledge of reinsurance concepts and methodologies to analyze and evaluate reinsurance contracts, policies, and claims accurately
  • Understanding of insurance financial statements and reinsurance accounting principles
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex insurance data, identify trends, and make informed decisions for portfolio management and risk assessment
  • Proficient computer skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, to organize and manipulate large data sets for reporting and modeling purposes
  • The expected compensation in this position is within the range of $150,000 - $170,000
